Stancz, an alternative to ArrangeUs
ArrangeUs is a mobile dance formation app, installed from the App Store or Google Play, with over four thousand ratings on the US App Store. Stancz does the same job in a browser on PC and Mac, and in its apps for iPhone and Android. The choice between the two depends less on features than on the screen you plan on.

What ArrangeUs highlights: “Easy, fast and stylish — everything to help choreographers move their formations from paper to the App.”
Phone first, or big screen first
ArrangeUs says it on its site: “ArrangeUs is built for mobile first”. The app runs on iPhone, iPad and Android, and on Apple Silicon Macs through the Mac App Store. On Windows, the maker says to go through an Android emulator. A web version is announced as “in the works for the future”.
Stancz starts from the other end: Stancz runs in the browser on PC and Mac, with nothing to install, and has apps for iPhone, iPad and Android. On a Windows PC there is nothing to install or emulate — you open a page.
In practice: if you plan your choreographies on a desktop PC, ArrangeUs takes a detour. On an iPhone or an Android phone, both install from the store.
Two subscriptions, two free plans
ArrangeUs is free to download. Its free plan already exports formations to PDF and takes up to 60 dancers per choreography, according to the maker’s FAQ. ArrangeUs Premium adds Music Mode, props and unlimited choreographies: $2.99 per month, $14.99 for six months or $23.99 per year on the App Store.
Stancz is also a subscription: The free plan covers 3 choreographies and 4 formations per choreography; the Pro subscription lifts these limits for €3.99/month or €29.99/year.
So the two models are closer than they look. The gap is in the free plan: PDF and a large cast at ArrangeUs; music, 3D and the audience view from day one at Stancz.
What Stancz does
Stancz places dancers on a to-scale stage, offers 19 preset formations that adapt to the number of dancers, animates every transition, and shows the stage from above, in 3D and from the audience’s seat. Moves are timed to the imported music, and the LED backdrop screen is programmed cue by cue. The choreography is shared with the team, who can comment on a formation, and each dancer can follow their own dot, highlighted with a halo, in Follow mode.
What Stancz does not do: no PDF export, and no dance studio admin (enrolment, class schedules, invoicing, attendance). It does not teach dance steps either.
When to choose ArrangeUs over Stancz
- You want a free plan that exports to PDF: ArrangeUs does, and takes up to 60 dancers without paying. Stancz does not export to PDF.
- You want a yearly subscription that costs less than Stancz’s: $23.99 at ArrangeUs, against €29.99/year.
- You want a tool already proven by many users: ArrangeUs has 4,467 ratings on the US App Store and over 100,000 downloads on Google Play. Stancz has only two ratings so far.
