Stancz, an alternative to Croovoo
Croovoo and Stancz do the same job: place dancers, time the formations to the music, watch the piece in 3D before rehearsal. Croovoo lives entirely in the browser and reaches dancers through a single link. Stancz also opens in the browser, and publishes apps for iPhone, iPad and Android.

What Croovoo highlights: “Stage smarter, not longer.”
A link for the dancers, or an invitation
With Croovoo, you turn on a public link and drop it in the group chat. Each dancer opens it on their phone, taps their name and sees their spot, their facing and their path through the whole piece, with no app and no account.
Stancz shares the choreography by invitation: each dancer creates an account, finds it in the browser or in the app, and follows their own dot, highlighted with a halo, in Follow mode. View-only sharing is free.
For a team that does not want to create any account, Croovoo takes fewer steps. For a team that wants its choreographies in an installed app, Stancz publishes one on each store.
Browser only, or browser and apps
Croovoo says so on its product page: it is a web app, there is nothing to download from the App Store or Google Play. It opens in the browser of a computer, a tablet or a phone, and the maker recommends building on a laptop, where the stage and the timeline have room.
Stancz runs in the browser on PC and Mac, with nothing to install, and has apps for iPhone, iPad and Android. The apps open the same choreographies as the browser.
Several people on the same choreography
Croovoo’s Pro plan takes unlimited co-editors, who build at the same time. The free plan has a single editor seat.
Stancz offers no simultaneous editing: you can give editing rights to another account, with Pro, but two people cannot edit at the same moment. The team can comment on a formation.
For a pair of choreographers building together, that is a real gap, and it favours Croovoo.
The price
Croovoo is free for one performance, with unlimited dancers, audio sync and the 3D stage view. The Pro plan costs $6 per month, or $5 per month billed yearly, and adds unlimited performances, co-editors and stage time analytics. A Studio plan, on quote, is aimed at studios and dance companies.
Stancz: The free plan covers 3 choreographies and 4 formations per choreography; the Pro subscription lifts these limits for €3.99/month or €29.99/year. Schools and associations have a dedicated plan at €99/year for up to 100 members.
What Stancz does
Stancz places dancers on a to-scale stage, offers 19 preset formations that adapt to the number of dancers, animates every transition, and shows the stage from above, in 3D and from the audience’s seat. Moves are timed to the imported music, and the LED backdrop screen is programmed cue by cue. The choreography is shared with the team, who can comment on a formation, and each dancer can follow their own dot, highlighted with a halo, in Follow mode. A choreography takes up to 500 dancers.
What Stancz does not do: no PDF export, and no dance studio admin (enrolment, class schedules, invoicing, attendance). It does not teach dance steps either. Nor does it offer simultaneous editing or stage time analytics.
When to choose Croovoo over Stancz
- You want to send the choreography to dancers without them creating an account: Croovoo gives them a public link, Stancz goes through an invitation and an account.
- You build with someone else at the same time: Croovoo’s Pro plan takes co-editors who edit at the same moment, Stancz does not offer simultaneous editing.
- You want numbers to share out the front line: Croovoo’s Pro plan measures how long each dancer spends on stage, and where.
